Seniors’ accommodations with Micasa Fastigheter
- security, fellowship, participation and service
Micasa Fastigheter wants to offer high-standard secure accommodations that seniors will enjoy for many years. Over a three-year period, Micasa will transform seven of our service buildings to seniors’ accommodations. There will be a total of approximately 700 apartments, throughout the City of Stockholm.
All of Micasa Fastigheter’s seniors’ residences will be rented units. Anyone who is at least 65 will have an opportunity to rent an apartment, without having to undergo a needs test. The seniors’ apartments will be allocated by the Stockholm Municipal Housing Service.
Naturally, Micasa Fastigheter will offer apartments that are tailored to the special preferences and requirements of seniors. Common areas, such as entrances, stairways and corridors, are generously proportioned and lit so as to create the greatest possible feeling of security.
The apartments have high standards throughout. Kitchens and bathrooms are equipped with the latest and best in technology and security. Examples of practical solutions include electrical sockets at a convenient height, security doors, nightlights in bathrooms, kitchens adapted to the needs of wheelchair users, plus accessible balconies and terraces.
In most cases, seniors’ buildings have common areas, such as guest apartments, assembly rooms, laundromats and maybe a small café.
Many of the houses that are being converted to seniors’ apartments were built during the 1960s and 1970s, and cannot always be completely adapted to today’s standards. The standards, therefore, may vary somewhat between properties.
In the near future, Micasa Fastigheter will offer additional services and security features. The nature of these new services will largely depend on the wishes of the residents.
